Yongmei Gong
Project Leader - Arctic Citizen
Observers
Gong is a glaciologist and physical geographer. In the citizen
scientist sub-project “Arctic Citizen Observers” she will establish observation stations at a few hiking trails around the Abisko tourist station and the famous Kungsleden. At the observation stations, simple data collection activities (e.g. temperature reading) and a survey of people's perception of future climate and environment will be provided online and on-site.
Samantha Saville
Project Leader - Imaged Futures
Saville is a human geographer. In the
sub-project "Imaged Future" she will
organize workshops engaging
different stakeholders in discussing
the kind of future landscapes and
future relationship to nature they
envision. Afterwards, participants and
facilitators from the project group will
discuss their visions and their
experience of their creative processes
in a focus group, along with potential
action points.
Mari Keski-Korsu
Project Leader - Rituals of Belonging
Keski-Korsu is a post-disciplinary artist. In the sub-project "Rituals of Belonging" she will facilitate participatory and performative sessions based on research of existing rituals and activities connected with nature. These encourage an
awareness of people’s personal
connectedness with nature. In addition, we will co-create new rituals with nature with mixed groups of people which can encourage and underline the interconnectedness of different stakeholders and their relationship to nature.
Joost Van Duppen
Project Leader - Hidden Sound Series
Van Duppen is a sound artist. In the sub-project "Hidden Sound Series", he will set up a sound recording series and live streaming of sounds in the Abisko area for mapping and monitoring of changes in the soundscape in different seasons. This will be complemented participatory sound walks inviting people to listen and record the sounds along hiking trails round the Abisko area.
Nikki Lindt
Project Leader - Through Your Eyes
Lindt is a visual and sound artist. In the sub-project "Through Your Eyes " she will work with three groups with varying interests to better understand their relationships to the natural areas of Abisko. These groups will include: climate scientists, tourists, and locals.
Lindt will accompany each of these groups to a local landscape spot where she will spend time with them understanding how they are perceiving the landscape through their specific lens and interests. This project will encourage participants to observe very deeply using all their senses. She will then create a series of works (painting and sound) of the location strongly influenced by these various conversations and perceptions. The sites will be chosen by their sensitivity to alter due to climate change. These individual pieces will then be assembled as a part of a larger collective to create a single large artwork representing the collective perceptions of now and here as a monumental marker in time.
