Barefoot walking on permafrost

Updated: Jun 30, 2022

I’m grateful to start a 3-year project in Abisko Scientific Research Station (SWE) to study empathic, inter-species rituals for doctoral research creation. I’m a member of the AccessAbisko group Changing Perspectives. During this first travel to Abisko, I’m barefoot walking on permafrost and thinking with the bacteria and other entities it contains. Permafrost is a carbon sink storing twice as much CO2 than is in the Earth’s atmosphere now. As it thaws due to climate warming, the CO2 is released.

I’m also conducting walking methodology interviews in an attempt to find out about the local ritualistic relations in the environment during my time in Abisko.
